Jay Jacovino

“Hello!

“My name is Joseph or “Jay” Jacovino (They/she).

I am a Licensed clinical social worker with more than 8 years of experience within the field within the state of Connecticut. My approach as a therapist is highly eclectic, person-centered and personally constructed to the individual I work with. I specialize in treating complex and often dynamic developmental trauma and I am trained in several interventions that appear to help with this process quickly. This includes EMDR, Brainspotting and focused, ego state visualization and meditation. I also specialize in transgender clients and as someone who is transgender themselves, I deeply hope to provide a safe, encouraging and open-minded setting for said clients.

I approach psychotherapy from a neurodevelopmental perspective and personally, as a provider, struggle to label individuals with so-called “mental health disorders.” I believe every human on earth is a gift fundamentally and as humans, an active part of their own story. I believe that real experiences often influence the “development” of what I view as “adaptations” versus “disorders.”

That being said, I have significant experience working with the following “disorders.”

– Mood disorders
-Anxiety and panic disorders
-PTSD and CPTSD
-Substance use concerns and use disorders
-ADHD
-Autism Spectrum Disorder
-Personality Disorders
-Tick disorders
-Insomnia

I also have worked with individuals who simply want a place to “vent” and have a safe space to share themselves. If you’ve made it this far on my profile and you feel I could potentially offer something that would benefit you or someone you care about, do not hesitate to reach out and I would love to speak with you
